"I didn't know the students in my class before the summer, but the NaliniKIDS program helped me get to know them well in the short time we had together. I was able to connect with them more quickly than I would have without the benefit of the program's curriculum."
Ms. Bartley, NYC DOE Summer in the City Teacher, 2017
In 2017, the NYC DOE took a bold step and decided to make social-emotional learning a dedicated part of the school day for students mandated to take summer school. NaliniKIDS has been the chosen program since the idea was born. We have successfully served over 90,000 New York City summer school students.
Alongside engineering, robotics, and coding, The Department of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) at the NYC DOE includes the NaliniKIDS program in their summer enrichment program. We have shared a meaningful partnership since 2015. STEM teachers enjoy using NaliniKIDS to help students make connections between their daily lives and academic subjects.

"NaliniKIDS is not your conventional STEM program, and that makes me very excited to include it in our summer STEM program. STEM teachers must teach the 21st century soft skills that will help students to be successful both in the classroom, and in their future careers that may not even exist yet. NaliniKIDS does a wonderful job of teaching these skills through collaboration, communication, and self-reflection."
Nancy Woods, Ed.D., M.S. Director of Technology & Engineering in the Department of STEM, NYC DOE
